How Do I Get A Website?
As far as websites go, there are many different ways to go about making them. As I said in the last POST, my favorite way to do it is using Word Press. Recently my little brother said he wanted an online personality, and a good way to start is by making a personal website where people can go and read about you. This is just a start, but it is a good start!
First I showed him how to get the domain (URL) that he wanted. He chose RyleeHunsaker.com for a personal website about himself. I like to use GoDaddy (Above) for buying my domain names. They make it very easy to understand and fairly inexpensive. They do like to try and sell you a bunch of stuff you don’t need like the .org, .net, .bz, etc version of the domain you want to buy. None of which you need.There are many different domain sites out there that you can use.
After buying the domain you want your site to be on, you need to get your site “Hosted.” Hosting is what makes your website visible to the world! You can own your domain but if you don’t get it hosted no one will see it. There are tons of different hosting sites out there, including the one GoDaddy offers on their site. The hosting network we use at Sleek is BlueHost.com (Above). You can get hosting for one individual site or you can buy hosting for a bunch of sites. We really like BlueHost because of how easy to understand it is! As far as pricing goes, it varies depending on who you go through.
So after buying the domain and getting your site hosting, I like to install Word Press at this point. (Check previous post for more info) From there you can start to tweak and customize the theme, widgets, layout, colors, posts, pages, etc on the Word Press Dash Board. This is why I love Word Press so much is because the Dashboard makes it very easy for anyone to use! My little brother is 17 and has no experience with websites, and he has got on his sites Dash Board and customized the heck out of it! This is proof that it is easy to understand and use!
So that is how I like to get websites started. This is just a quick post about how to get started on building your website. As I said before, there are tons of different ways to do it! Thank you for this post. I’m currently using BlueHost as my web host and so far, they seem to be pretty reliable. I’m not sure, though, what others think about the specifications of the hosting plan they offer, as with other web hosting companies, you may get more.
